MEET RACHEL ✽
welcome
I’m Rachel Jones, PMHNP
Growing up, life threw me plenty of curveballs, which gave me a pretty good sense of humor—and a deep understanding that mental health is complicated.
In caring for my own family members, I’ve seen up close what it’s like to navigate the mental health system from the other side—and let’s just say, I know how disheartening the search for truly compassionate care can be.
Time after time, my heart broke as I struggled to get practitioners to see my loved ones as humans, look past their diagnoses, and the assumptions that came with them.
Treating people like people seems like an obvious approach to mental health care, and yet so many struggle to find care that makes them feel safe, heard, and validated.
This is why I created Cup of Tea Psychiatry.

qualifications
It all started back in high school when I volunteered as a nursing assistant in elderly homes for an allied health class. The connection I made with my first patient lit a spark, and I knew right then that caring for people gave me a deep sense of purpose. It was one of those rare moments where everything clicked, and I realized, this is what I’m meant to do.
Fast forward to working on the hospital psych units as a nurse, and all the creative skills from my younger years came flooding back. Between charting and meds, I was in the day room hanging out with patients, making up games, playing guitar and ukulele, improvising scenes, and finding every way we could to create moments of light.
Over the past ten years, I’ve worked in hospitals, residential settings, outpatient clinics, and even correctional facilities, and what I learned is this:
When you really connect with someone and give them room to express themselves, healing begins long before you ever grab a prescription pad.
This philosophy is still at the heart of my practice today—connection first, creativity always. I’m not here to fit you into a box. I’m here to meet you where you are, hear your story, and help you discover what’s next.
